We are Jose and Sherry Chavez; a husband and wife team based out of the Metro New Orleans area. I became interested in better health when my husband complained about his belly fat. He asked me to find out why he could not lose it no matter how often he went to the gym. As I started researching the cause, I quickly realized abs really are made in the kitchen. The more I learned, the more I wanted to know so my journey contined.
I received my professional training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I studied over 100 different dietary theories, integrating traditional nutritional theories with modern concepts. My husband followed suit and began his training. We are both Certified Health Coaches and members of the American Association of Drugless Practioners. After much research and factual data, we concluded that one diet does not fit all since we are all individuals with bio-individuality. For this reason, we incorporate all aspects of your daily life into our coaching sessions. We specialize in weight-loss and those suffering from type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis or any other heart related health issues. Jose uses his knowledge of 22 years in the cardiac cath lab to help guide clients to heart health. A healthy side effect of addressing these issues is losing weight. We are also passionate about children who are on an unhealthy track. We will gladly work with a family as a whole to foster a lifetime of healthy lifestyle choices.
I grew up with relatively healthy eating habits but as a young adult, I found myself inadvertently eating more and more processed foods such as frozen packaged cream of spinach or microwave popcorn without realizing the health consequences. In my 30’s I found myself struggling with low energy, fatigue, frequent headaches and a few extra pounds. I never ONCE associated feeling bad with food. I simply became accustomed to feeling bad as the way it is. When I began this journey, I just wanted to help my husband (at his request) lose his belly fat. The side effect was losing the few pounds I had to lose, clarity of mind (no brain fog) and energy I have not felt in years. Interestingly enough, I was not even going to the gym at the time. Incidentally, my husband also lost his belly fat without going to the gym proving the point that great abs are truly made in the kitchen. Please understand, exercise is also extremely important to one’s overall health but we believe as a society we have lost site of what nurishing our bodies is and it’s making us sick.
